#BigBeacon Twitter chat – Wed Oct 22 8PM

What’s in it for me? A non-engineer’s perspective on the call for change within engineering.

This week’s chat will be co-hosted by me, Erica Lee Garcia @engineeryrlife, and Alan Ham from the Engineers without Canada venture Engineers of Tomorrow @eotewb.

We will discuss the implications of a healthy, diverse, whole-minded engineering profession, full of Whole New Engineers, and the specific benefits that would reach beyond the engineering community – either by the changed outcomes produced by these whole new engineers or by the application of Beaconesque thinking to various sectors.

As engineering and STEM educators, students and professionals, we may find the benefits to upending the status quo to have more trust,  joy, courage in our colleges and universities obvious and clearly worth pursuing. But why should the less-aware stakeholders care about the changes we are creating? What’s in it for them?

Will members of the general public, unrelated to STEM or higher education, with little knowledge or interest in engineering new to the Big Beacon, engineering educational transformation or the Whole New Engineer still be affected by it?

As demonstrated by the ongoing success and interest in the recently released book, “A Whole New Engineer” co-authored by Big Beacon founder and President Dave Goldberg, this is a book about much more than engineering.

This week on the #BigBeacon chat, let’s put ourselves in different folks’ shoes and contemplate the Whole New Engineer movement from their perspective.

How can we understand the impacts these changes will have on a broad, systemic level? How can we capture and use our new understanding to better enroll and inspire them to participate in making  those changes happen with us?

Join us on Wednesday, October 22 at 8 PM EST for our weekly Twitter Chats. Follow us by using hasttag #BigBeacon.
