That was a special moment for me, one in which I understood more deeply how important the work of the Big Beacon is, and how urgent it is for engineering education transformation to be successful. Engineering and technology education generally can be a much bigger tent than it has been, but we have to find ways to reframe the education so that more students can find themselves in it. Moving from a weed-out culture to one that invites, includes, supports, and cares won’t be easy, but that’s the task in front of us.
